We missed our Baja holiday
this year, illness in the family required staying home, but we are dreaming of
the waters, the fishing, the scuba, the sailing, which will be there once again
to enjoy as always. And the friendly Mexican people who help ensure that the
time in their beautiful country is sublime. Many Americans are rushing to
purchase beach front property in Baja. Cuidado! It is very complex, and not for
the uninformed. Banks and legal assistance are very important. The areas south
of San Diego are especially popular, some are commuting to work from Baja to San
Diego. Live on the beach, work in the city. And not for a million dollar price. We
are excited about our winter visitors arriving soon, we know them because they
drive with their lights on, and many, slowly, enjoying the vistas of our
beautiful desert.
Second home purchases are very popular here. I was researching prices for small condominiums in marvelous areas: found some for $80,000 - $100,000, two bedrooms, two baths, well maintained gardens, community pools, close to fine shopping. A purchase many can afford. Just sold a new custom home, with city light views, canterra stone fireplaces, negative edge pool and adjoining spa, low maintenance gardens, breathtaking design. A
soft cool breeze made an appearance in
our Valley of the Sun recently. No longer sizzling, but a newer refreshing wind
through our trees. At last, we say here, and of course "it's about time". We
have made peace with the summer past and eagerly look forward to our welcome
Fall and Winter. They say we have only two seasons here, warm and warmer. At
least my roses survived, again. Out come the sweaters, not to put on just yet,
just to enjoy the anticipation of setting aside the interminable cottons and
linens that we have lived in since May. Holidays are soon upon us, the grins of
Halloween pumpkins,
the plans for families to gather again around the table. It is a serious season
for some. Perhaps better taken on a cruise or a tropical island. Wherever the
season finds you, may you create happy days. The real estate business has been
vigorous here. Interest rates are creeping up after an unbelievable low level,
which many of us took instant advantage of and refinanced. It is possible to find
100% loans, sometimes 100% and more! Thus some of the costs are wrapped into the
loan, very appealing to many buyers.
New housing is everywhere, pretty
homes and very affordable. They are located on the edges of our metro area,
however with the circle loop freeways now complete it is easy to move around the
county.
